PalArt Collective

I started PalArt in 2021 following the war on Gaza. I felt that I had to do something to amplify Palestinian voices in the UK and worldwide, focussing mostly on our vibrant cultural scene. I put out a call on Twitter and brought people together online to discuss how we can form a Collective which provides a podium for Palestinian artists to have their stories told and their artwork scene widely. The response was amazing and within a few weeks, we formed what is now a very daring and creative team and registered it as a Community Interest Company (CIC).

Unlike Al Zaytouna, my previous dance theatre company which I founded in 2005, PalArt is an inclusive company that spots the light on all of forms of Palestinian art.

Each year, we organise a performing arts festival and develop relationships with artists and industry experts to present Palestinian art in top venues.

As a Collective, we now:

  • Seek to benefit our members through showcasing and increasing their skills, providing connections and opportunities in the creative arts

  • We seek to coordinate artistic endeavours, whether physical or electronic with a focus on long-term impact as well as ad hoc responses to situations of urgency
